What can you do to make a difference?
Accept some percentage of medicaid (or state funded health program) in your practice. Anything will help, but the more we serve, the more we impact. (Need a Medicaid mentor?)
Write your state representatives demanding an increase in Medicaid reimbursement for dental services (need help writing a letter?) NC state Senators and Representatives can be found here or a Google search can locate state representatives congressional senators and representatives.
Give one, two or three days of your time to an access event.
Talk to your Dental office staff about volunteering.
Place an educational public service announcement in your local newspaper concerning an oral health topic, especially those commonly misunderstood.
Give a contribution to any organization that provides community access to dental care options.
Start an access to care organization or clinic.
Use a Dual Practice Model that encompasses a high profit private practice that supports an access-to-care clinic.
Sponsor a number of patients in full mouth reconstruction. Candidates may include foster children and patients showing OHI compliance with dental needs beyond their financial resources.
