Mission of NC MPACT
Unite dental professionals and other concerned persons in the US to make access to dental care and oral health education a reality for all.
NC MPACT, Inc. is a nonprofit organization devoted to making access to oral healthcare a reality for people in the United States and beyond. We are a group of dental professionals and other interested parties working to make a difference in the oral health care access and education disparities everywhere. MPACT collaborates with universities, dental health associations and organizations, dental and other healthcare professionals, as well as national and global organizations in strategic efforts to make oral health a reality.
NC MPACT partners with the Points of Light Foundation, Network for Good, Opportunity Nation, IdeaEncore Network, Service Nation and others to encourage volunteer efforts to create solutions in our oral health system. As a certifying organization for The President's Volunteer Service Award program, MPACT is able to bestow the nation's highest awards for volunteer service, to those that are actively working to be that change that facilitates the solution. The President's Call to Service Award, a lifetime achievement award, was given in 2010 to Dr. Steven Slott for his selfless devotion to access to dental care in North Carolina.
NC MPACT believes that the solution to access to dental care and oral health education is multi-faceted and requires the collaborative efforts of each component. Examples of successful components include sliding-scale dental clinics, free dental care clinic events, Medicaid participation on any level, extensive public oral health education, patient compliance success, private practice strategies and many more.
Since 2006, MPACT has
formed successful partnerships with national and global organizations
helped hundreds of people throughout the nation achieve oral health in a step-by-step program
provided oral health resources to thousands
developed strategies for facilitating access to dental care
acknowledged dental health professionals making a difference
created a prehealth internship to educate prospective healthcare professionals on oral health and access issues
and much more.
Adequate access to oral health care can be achieved by dental professionals and patients taking responsibility for the oral health needs of our communities.
